Is your organisation ready for an AI integration? A 12-point checklist

A useful AI integration depends on more than model access. Review the workflow, information quality, permissions, evaluation, and operating ownership first.

01

The workflow is specific

Name the exact trigger, user, input, decision, output, and next action. “Use AI for customer service” is too broad; “draft an answer from approved support documents for an agent to review” can be designed and evaluated.

02

The information is usable

Identify where the source information lives, who maintains it, what is confidential, and how often it changes. An AI assistant cannot create a trusted knowledge experience from content that is outdated, contradictory, or inaccessible to the integration.

03

Quality can be evaluated

Prepare representative examples and define what correct, acceptable, unsafe, and incomplete outputs look like. Evaluation should cover the common workflow and important edge cases before real users depend on the result.

04

Someone owns the operation

Assign responsibility for permissions, monitoring, user feedback, incident response, source content, and future changes. AI integration is a product capability that needs stewardship, not a one-time API connection.
